PALM SPRINGS – (INT) – The impending rebirth of the iconic Palm Springs Plaza Theater is not without surprises. Some hidden treasures dating back to the 1930s have been rediscovered.

The centerpiece has been some original stencil work adorning the proscenium. That’s the arch that serves as a frame in which the audience observes a stage during performances.

Cleaning and restoration will allow the building’s original artwork to be restored, showcasing the art deco-style stencil work in its full splendor.

"We are thrilled by the amazing condition of these long-hidden decorative elements. It will enable us to clean and restore the original 1930s design elements," said spokeswoman Katie Horak.
