Former chiropractor sentenced for compensation fraud
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – A former Riverside County chiropractor has been handed a stiff 54-year prison term for orchestrating a massive workers’ compensation fraud scheme.

An investigation covering several years revealed that Peyman Heidary exaggerated patient injuries and ordered his employees to provide unnecessary treatments, resulting in inflated billings to insurance companies. Heidary used a sham law firm to recruit thousands of legitimately injured patients and referred them to his network of clinics to create unnecessary billing.

Prosecutors charged that Heidary’s compensation fraud scheme totaled $150 million.

He was sentenced Friday (April 12th) in Riverside County Superior court was sentenced to 54 years, eight months in state prison and ordered to pay more than $23 million in fines.

His clinics operated in Anaheim, Bellflower, Santa Ana, Riverside, Montebello and Ontario, according to investigators.
