California regulates charitable online fundraising
SACRAMENTO – (INT) – California is implementing a first-of-its-kind law governing charitable fundraising on internet platforms.

It’s the result of an extensive rulemaking process approved by state lawmakers under AB 488.

Beginning June 12th, charitable fundraising platforms are required to register with the Attorney General’s (AG’s) Registry of Charities and Fundraisers.

The AG is allowed to supervise crowdfunding websites and other online platforms that perform, permit, or enable solicitations for charitable donations through their platforms.
