Is El Nino on its last lap?
SOUTHLAND – (INT) – The latest edition of El Nino has about run its course.

The Climate Prediction Center (CPC) bases its outlook on cooling ocean temperatures in the Mid-Pacific. It says “The forecast team continues to favor the dynamical model guidance, which is slightly more accurate than statistical models during this time of year.”

There’s an 85% chance the transition from El Nino toward an opposing La Nina is underway. By this summer, there is a 60 percent chance La Nina will be in place.

Weather forecasters are learning more on how the oscillation affects rainfall in Southern California which is coming out of two consecutive years of above-normal precipitation.
