State Water Project allocations hit 40%
SACRAMENTO – (INT) - Agencies along the State Water Project can now expect to get up to 40 percent of their requested allotments for the rest of the year. It’s a major improvement over what was guaranteed at the beginning of the year.

The revised allocation by the Department of Water Resources announced Tuesday (April 23rd) was based on a huge increase in water stored at Lake Oroville.

The snowpack in the Sierra Nevada is at 99 percent of average. Snowmelt should add to reservoirs throughout the state.

The State Water Project provides water supplies to 27 million Californians and farmers served by 29 public water agencies.
