Mountain fires were ‘prescribed’
ANGELUS OAKS – (INT) – The Forest Service is stepping up its controlled burns in an effort to gain a hedge on the summer wildfire season.

Efforts are being concentrated in the San Bernardino National Forest. Near Angelus Oaks, 200 acres is being burned off. The target area is west of the community and above Highway 38.

South of Hesperia, smoke from a ‘live’ fire bulldozer training exercise may be seen. It could be visible from Highway 173 between 9am and 3pm.

The fires are under full control and are done annually to protect nearby communities in the event of larger blazes later in the summer.
