Where retires will get the biggest bang for their buck SOUTHLAND – (INT) – As households battle inflation, a new study has found California ranks 2nd among the most expensive states to retire in 2024.
LendingTree analyzed various data sources to understand how much Americans spend in retirement and how it’s changed over the past decade. In California, the average cost of living for retirees is nearly 57-thousand dollars, an 11 percent increase from 2021. By category, there were increases of 44-percent in food, 32-percent in entertainment, and 25-percent in transportation expenses.
