Officer-involved shooting victim identified
CORONA – (INT) – A Riverside County Sheriff’s deputy is on paid leave after a woman was fatally shot during a street fight in Corona.

According to an account by the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, the deputy had responded to reports of several people gathered on West Sixth Street early Tuesday morning (June 11th).

Several individuals scattered but one lunged at the deputy and attempted to disarm him. An unarmed woman joined the fray and was shot. During their struggle, both the deputy and the male suspect were injured. The woman was later identified as Jennifer Dobbins, 30, from Imperial Beach.

The suspect was identified Wednesday as Eric Nourani, 33, from San Diego County. He was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center for murder, attempted murder of a peace officer, mayhem, and resisting an officer with violence.

The California Attorney General's office announced Tuesday (June 11th) it will perform an independent investigation because the woman was not armed.
