Transients rescued from flaming, abandoned department store
SAN BERNARDINO – (INT) –Street-level homeless have figured in another downtown San Bernardino fire.

Several were rescued Monday (July 8th) after a fire broke out on the fourth floor of the abandoned Harris Company Department store on North E Street.

First-responders found the blaze well-established and sounded a second and third-alarm.

All the transients were rescued without injury.

Damage to the 4-story building was limited to the top floor.

The fire followed others attributed to transients at the nearby, one-time Carousel Mall which is being demolished.
