SACRAMENTO – (INT) – Teachers and school staffers are being banned from telling parents about their children’s gender transition.

Governor Newsom has signed a bill that forbids informing parents about their child’s “sexual orientation, gender identity or gender expression” without the student’s consent. It seeks to thwart parental notification policies passed by local school boards.

The Center for American Liberty said in a statement the bill was a “cowardly response to legal battles over parental notification policies adopted by the Chino Valley Unified School District and other districts.”
