Flames have scorched more than 751,000 acres across the state AGUANGA – (INT) – Clouds of smoke are shrouding parts of California from one end of the state to the other.
Calfire is battling wildfires that are likely to take weeks to contain and even longer to fully extinguish. In the Inland Empire, evacuation orders and warnings are still in effect as the Nixon fire at Aguanga is now threatening the steep and rugged terrain of the Beauty Mountain Wilderness along the Riverside-San Diego County line. It has claimed one home and four other structures. It has been mapped at 4-thousand-941 acres. In Kern and Tulare counties, the Lightning Complex Fire, which includes the Borel Fire and other blazes, has burned nearly 90,000 acres, CalFire said. The Park Fire continues to burn in Butte, Tehama, Shasta and Plumas counties with only 18% containment. It is the fifth-largest wildfire in California’s history.
