Federal charges filed in deputy’s beating
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – Federal authorities have filed charges against a Victorville man for assaulting a female San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputy inflicting injuries that forced her into medical retirement.

US Attorney Martin Estrada outlined the case Wednesday (July 31st) against Ari Aki Young, age 26. “In responding to a domestic disturbance call in September 2019, the deputy was met by a defendant who allegedly beat her, robbed her of her service weapon, and shot at her as she ran for her life.”

Responding back-up deputies fired at Young wounding him. A neighbor captured part of the incident on video.

Young is being tried in US District Court at Riverside.
