Analysis: California’s water outlook challenging
SACRAMENTO – (INT) – A sobering analysis paints a challenging outlook for California’s water supply if no new actions are taken.

The State Department of Water Resources (DWR) has projected that delivery capability and reliability could be reduced as much as 23 percent in 20 years along the State Water Project.

The DWR says changing flow patterns and extreme weather shifts “underscore the need for California to continue addressing the impacts of climate change and upgrading infrastructure”, particularly along the Delta Conveyance Project, reservoirs and desalination projects.

A 23 percent decline would be equivalent to supply 1-point-7 million homes for a year.
