Excessive Heat Warning extended as Southland sizzles
SOUTHLAND - (INT) - Mother Nature is keeping the sizzle in the Southland’s late summer outlook.

KEY POINTS
• The heat will be on until the end of the week. Some relief comes late in the weekend.
• Elevated fire weather conditions for inland areas Thursday and Friday due to hot temperatures and low humidity.
• A chance (15-25%) of thunderstorms for the mountains and high desert this weekend.

Summer’s latest heat wave is in overdrive and is not likely to downshift until the weekend. The heat may max out with some of the highest numbers of the summer. Riverside and San Bernardino shared highs of 108 Wednesday.
The Southland’s Excessive Heat Warning has been extended through Saturday.

Strengthening high pressure has taken full control and isn’t in a hurry to ease its grip. A trough of low pressure in the distant Pacific Northwest may set off a drying trend over Southern California early next week along with some cooling.
