CARB moves to scrap polluting vehicles SACRAMENTO – (INT) – More low-income Californians may soon realize that a zero-emission vehicle is financially within their reach.
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) announced Wednesday (September 11th) the launch of the Driving Clean Assistance Program---known as D-CAP. In exchange for scrapping an older vehicle, eligible participants can receive up to a $12,000 grant to purchase or lease a new or used zero-emission vehicle. They could receive an additional $2,000 for electric charging costs. The assistance can be used to purchase zero-emission cars, motorcycles or e-bikes. Low-interest loans will also be available.
