Sheriff: Victorville ranks high for ghost guns INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – Two years of Operation Consequences in San Bernardino County has gotten results.
Sheriff Shannon Dicus says the county-wide initiative launched in October 2022 has made significant strides in combating crime and reducing the prevalence of illegal firearms. The campaign has focused on targeting violent crimes, human trafficking, and the distribution of illegal narcotics. • Seizure of firearms: Over 2,277 illegally possessed firearms, including 1,561 ghost guns, have been seized. • Arrests: 1,362 felony arrests have been made. • Narcotics seizures: Over 57 pounds of cocaine, 3,118 pounds of methamphetamine, 27 pounds of heroin, and more than 214 pounds of fentanyl have been recovered. • Human trafficking: 73 arrests have been made, and 43 individuals have been rescued. On a sidebar note, Victorville is the eighth-highest city in the state for ghost gun seizures. Story Date: September 25, 2024
