Gunman with Jewish hatred gets 35 year prison sentence LOS ANGELES – (INT) – A former Riverside County man is facing a long stint in prison for shooting two Jewish men as they left a religious service in Los Angeles.
Jaime Tran, 30, was sentenced Monday (September 30th) to 35 years after pleading guilty to an assortment of charges including carrying out hate crimes with intent to kill. The complaint alleged that Tran committed two hate-motivated attacks in 2023. Both shooting incidents took place in the Pico-Robertson district of Los Angeles. The evidence uncovered during the investigation indicated that Tran located a Jewish neighborhood after searching a popular business-review app for a kosher market. After locating the market, Tran allegedly drove to the area, where the shootings occurred. Both victims survived the attacks in 2023. When he was arrested, Tran told law enforcement officers that he was “practicing” with his assault weapon. Government prosecutors argued that “had [Tran] not been caught the night of his second shooting, his campaign of terror would likely have continued.” The Cathedral City Police Department provided substantial assistance in the investigation.
