Last of Line Fire fought in 'steep and dangerous' drainage
SEVEN OAKS – (INT) – Diminishing smoke is giving hope that the fight against the nearly month-old Line Fire is winding down.

Fire behavior along the remaining 20 percent of the uncontained fire in the San Bernardino Mountains was more than expected this week. The most active area is in the steep and treacherous Bear Creek Drainage. Authorities insist the situation is manageable, but are keeping in place evacuation orders for the Barton Flats and Seven Oaks areas and the southwestern side of Big Bear Lake.

The Line Fire’s rampage across 43-thousand-890 acres has claimed one building and damaged four others.

As firefighters close in on the last of the Line Fire, most schools in the Bear Valley Unified School District are resuming classes. Only the Fallsvale School will remain closed for the rest of the week due to the ongoing evacuation order.
