Revolutionary ZEMU train resuming test runs
REDLANDS – (INT) – Testing of a hydrogen-powered train known as ZEMU could set a significant milestone in global efforts to decarbonize public transportation.

The train has taken to the Metrolink tracks linking San Bernardino and Redlands to test its performance.

Testing was to start November 12th and continue until January 31st, weeknights from 9pm to 4am.

ZEMU uses a hybrid hydrogen fuel cell and battery system to power the train and its electrical systems. The only emission from the propulsion system is water vapor.

The ZEMU was built by a Swiss train manufacturer. It has two passenger cars and a center power pack and can carry 108 passengers.

The train is scheduled to go into full service in early 2025.
