Thanksgiving travel may be busiest of the year SOUTHLAND – (INT) – Southern Californians on the go can expect lots of company during the extended Thanksgiving holiday travel period.
The Automobile Club of Southern California (ACSC) projects more than 6-and-a-half-million SoCal residents will travel more than 50-miles from home. For the first time, the annual prediction includes the Tuesday before and Monday after Thanksgiving to better reflect people's traveling habits. With more travelers on the road, gas prices are lower than during the holiday last year. "Thanksgiving is the busiest holiday for travel, and this year we’re expecting to set new records across the board, from driving to flying and cruising," Stacey Barber, vice president of AAA Travel, said in a statement.
