Redlands church youth leader sentenced in sex abuse case SAN BERNARDINO – (INT) – A Redlands church leader has drawn a stiff 26-to-175 year prison term for a series of crimes against children.
Abraham Jatnel Coronado was a youth leader at La Luz Del Mundo church located in Redlands. He was convicted of thirteen felony counts of sexual abuse against three young church members, mostly boys. Coronado oversaw Ebenezer Ranch, an off-site church location in Redlands. Children from the church were sent to assist at the ranch and would often spend the night in Coronado’s trailer located on the ranch. One of his victims testified that Coronado “groomed” him to become his boyfriend. John Doe #2 testified that there were many acts of sexual assault in 2010-2011 when he was 13 years old. Deputy District Attorney Adrienne Mendoza who prosecuted the case said, “After nearly two decades, the Defendant’s horrific and predatory conduct towards children has finally come to an end. Not only should the victims be applauded for facing their perpetrator, but also for their unwavering bravery, honesty, and courage throughout the entire criminal procedure process.” Story Date: December 5, 2024
