California toll scam surfaces
SOUTHLAND – (INT) – California motorists are being warned about a rise in text-based toll scams.

The texts claim consumers owe FasTrak express lane or toll charges. There is a link to a website that asks for online payment.

The Attorney General’s office says the scam is designed to deceive drivers into entering banking or credit card information into a website, fraudulently claiming to represent tolling agencies.

Do not click on links in texts appearing to alert consumers to overdue toll charges.
