MENTONE – (INT) – The Inland Empire has avoided the major wildfires that are being fought in Los Angeles County.

The IE is still recovering from three other conflagrations that struck in September.

But early Thursday (January 8th), flames destroyed the Moose Lodge in Mentone. High winds fed the flames showering the surrounding neighborhood on Mentone Boulevard with burning embers.

Seventy firefighters could not save the building but prevented damage to homes in the area.

There were no injuries.
