Weekend wind relief, but no rain INLAND EMPIRE METRO: Thursday’s renewed burst of Santa Ana winds was short-lived. Arrowhead Springs again took top speed honors with a gust of 90 miles an hour. Lytle Creek trailed at 76 mph and Banning at 73 mph.
Forecasters are in a quandary about the potential for more Santa Ana winds over the next several days. Placement of the high and low pressure centers that control the potency of the winds is basically unchanged. The upper air pattern may not realign the way it did this week indicating lower wind speeds. Winds and elevated fire weather threat may return to areas below the Cajon Pass and adjacent foothills as early as Sunday. Another blast of weak to moderate winds are possible Monday and Tuesday. The fire danger remains high due to very low humidity and dry vegetation combined with the wind. Story Date: January 10, 2025
