Winter preparedness shifts from fire to rain
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – Fire concerns of Inland Empire residents now shifts to what winter rains may bring.

Mud and debris flows pose a significant threat in areas impacted by recent wildfires, including the Line Fire and the Bridge Fire in San Bernardino County.

Loose rocks, dirt, and burned debris on hillsides can quickly turn into destructive torrents during heavy rain, endangering lives and property.

Emergency preparedness is underway to reduce these risks, including investments in mitigation projects. But, officials say they can only do so much. “It’s essential for homeowners, residents, and recreationists to take evacuation warnings seriously and to have a plan in place before disaster strikes,” said Fire Division Chief Jim Topoleski.
