How will tariffs impact Californians?
SOUTHLAND – (INT) – Californians are bracing for the financial impact of Trump’s import tariffs.

California gets 45% of its imports from Canada, Mexico, and China. Two in five Americans fear tariffs will negatively impact their finances.

LendingTree analyzed data to identify which states rely most on imports from Canada, Mexico, and China. Our research uncovered the states that are most vulnerable to Trump’s tariffs and retaliatory measures. Findings:

• California ranks 25th among states most vulnerable to tariffs, with imports from Canada, Mexico, and China reaching 43.9%.

• Montana is the most vulnerable state, with 94% of imports coming from Canada, Mexico, and China.

• 44% of Americans believe tariffs will negatively affect their finances, and a staggering 74% anticipate rising prices on everyday goods.

This concern cuts across party lines: 67% of Republicans, 85% of Democrats, and 73% of independents expect tariffs to drive up costs.
