Layoffs hit supermarket chain
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – The Stater Brothers supermarket chain has chosen layoffs over price increases for its customers.

The decision came in a video announcement to employees by CEO Chairman of the Board Pete Van Helden. He cited inflation, tariffs, and competition from non-unionized grocery outlets like Walmart and Aldi for offering lower-priced products.

San Bernardino-based Stater Brothers has laid off 63 clerks to lower the cost of operations.

Stater’s pays clerks $16.50 an hour.
