Storm claims one of the Big Bear eaglets
BIG BEAR – (INT) – The non-profit Friends of Big Bear Valley says that one of the three eaglets born just days ago probably was a victim of the snowstorm that struck the San Bernardino Mountains last Thursday (March 13th).

Two remaining eagles and their parents appear to be doing well.

Webcam viewers around the world have been riveted to their screens to watch the eagle family.

The two eagle parents will have about 10 to 14 weeks to enjoy time with their brood before they leave the nest. In order for eaglets to be on their own, they must be fully grown and able to catch prey on their own. While they get the hang of adulthood, the chicks will be able to count on their parents.

As for naming rights, the public will help with that. The non-profit Friends of Big Bear Valley welcomes suggestions. It will draw thirty names that were suggested and then a group of grade school students will vote.
