Belated March Lion finally shows up ![]() SOUTHLAND - (INT) - Forecasters are classifying an incoming Pacific storm as ‘major’.
KEY POINTS • High impact system to bring rain, heavy at times, mountain snow (possibly to 3000 feet), falling temperatures and gusty west winds through Friday morning. • More precipitation possible early next week. The belated March Lion will unleash some cool, wet, and windy weather through the end of the week. Forecasters are certain of widespread precipitation into early Thursday morning, with additional scattered, locally heavy rain continuing through Thursday afternoon. Additional rounds of light rain and mountain snow will continue Friday with gusty winds for the mountains and deserts. Winter Storm Warning in the San Bernardino and San Jacinto Mountains through Thursday. Snowfall of 6-12 inches at resort-levels. Total snowfall accumulations now through Friday of 8-16 inches can be expected with isolated amounts near 2 feet possible, especially above 7,000 feet. Travel could be very difficult and chains may be required.
