What they’re saying about falling gas prices ![]() SOUTHLAND – (INT) – Gasoline prices have slipped into reverse after a brief run-up in February.
87 octane regular is selling statewide at an average of $4.66 a gallon. In Riverside, it’s $4.49 which is 31 cents lower than a year ago. Pump prices have fallen for three consecutive weeks which is contrary to numbers usually rising this time of year. AAA says the current declining prices are due largely to the falling crude oil prices and uncertainty about the economy in the months to come. Patrick De Haan of GasBuddy also said the declining prices could be a sign of economic troubles. "Uncertainty over the economy, paused tariffs, the stock market has plunged, OPEC is raising production in April," De Haan said. "And overall, the volatility in the government is certainly driving stock prices lower. That's also pulling oil down on a fear that an economic slowdown will likely undermine global oil demand," he said. Story Date: March 26, 2025
