Water reservoirs are filling up
SACRAMENTO – (INT) – Although still short of normal, available water in the State Water Project has inched up to its best of the season.

Cold, wet storms during March in the northern half of the state has enabled the State Department of Water Resources (DWR) to meet 40% of the demand for water.

Reservoir levels have steadily improved. Diamond Valley Lake near Hemet is at 97 percent of capacity and Lake Perris at 85 percent.

DWR Director Karla Nemeth noted that “Despite periods of extremely dry conditions this season, water managers have been able to effectively capture, move, and store water for use later this year while also maintaining flood protection.”
