How do Californians rate on their grocery bills? ![]() SOUTHLAND - (INT) - With grocery prices climbing, filling our carts at the supermarket may be a new luxury.
As grocery prices continue to rise, supermarket trips are becoming a bummer. According to research by LendingTree, California residents have the 7th-highest grocery bills in the nation, or just over 10-thousand dollars a year. They spend 24 percent more than the national average or about 7-point-4 percent of their income. In another comparison of organic versus conventional produce, it was found that organic fruits and vegetables cost an average of 52.6% more than their conventional counterparts. Even as Californians pay more for groceries, Utah households have the biggest grocery bills in the country, spending 45.5% more than the national average. Story Date: April 15, 2025
