Where are highest concerns about school shootings? ![]() SOUTHLAND – (INT) – A new survey shows heightened concern among Californians about the threat of a mass shooting in their local public schools.
That worry is highest among Inland Empire residents where 81% said they are concerned or very concerned. The Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC) found concern is somewhat higher among Latinos and Asian Americans than among African Americans and whites. Women are more worried than men. By comparison, regionally, residents in Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, the Central Valley, and Orange/San Diego expressed less likely fears. While majorities of partisans express concern, politics do seem to play a role. Eight in ten Democrats (83%) and seven in ten independents (70%) are concerned, compared to just over half of Republicans (53%). Story Date: April 30, 2025
