Concern expressed for mother of abandoned baby
RIVERSIDE – (INT) – California’s Safely Surrendered Baby Law apparently didn’t get the attention of a mother who left her hours-old infant abandoned near a dumpster at a Riverside apartment complex.

The good news is that the newborn baby boy, discovered May 4th breathing and crying with the umbilical cord still attached, is in good health at Parkview Community Hospital just across Jackson Street from where he was found.

It’s not known if the mother, or someone else, attempted to deliver the baby there.

Police are attempting to identify and locate the mother to ensure her own health and safety, and getting her any medical care or support she may need.

The Surrender Baby Law allows the surrender of newborns without fear of imprisonment --- no questions asked.
