• Temperatures warming quickly next week.

May has produced some abruptly changing temperatures with another shot at showers this weekend.

A cool weather system born in the Gulf of Alaska will dip into the West Coast, bringing chances of light rain this weekend to the Southland. Forecasters are expressing high confidence in falling temperatures, increasing cloud cover and stronger winds over the mountains and deserts of the Inland Empire.

There is an Air Quality Alert in the Coachella Valley until Friday because of windblown dust.

Going forward, a ridge of high pressure will set up over the Eastern Pacific for the weekend. It will likely set the stage for a rapid warm-up beginning Monday.
