SOUTHLAND - (INT) - Mother Nature is turning up the heat.

• Temperatures warming up quickly, reaching 10 to 15°F above average by mid-week.

Heat will build quickly into the Southland, bringing afternoon temperatures 10-15°F above average. The numbers are expected to peak Wednesday or Thursday. Most likely, forecasters predicted only a 20-30% chance of exceeding 100°F for the Metro Inland Empire.

The marine layer is receding back to the coast becoming more shallow and more patchy.

Expect brief cooling over the upcoming Memorial Day weekend holiday.
