Gas prices readjust after refinery fire
SOUTHLAND – (INT) – Southern California motorists are shopping for the best gasoline prices before setting out on their Memorial Day holiday trips.

Prices are generally lower than for the same holiday last year. But, about 10-cents-a-gallon higher over the past week. Statewide, the average is $4.92 and in the Riverside area, it’s $4.69.

The Oil Price Information Service reports that wholesale prices surged higher after a May 5th refinery fire. But, the numbers have since dropped after the refinery resumed operations.

“Hopefully that means pump prices will stop increasing before a record number of Southern Californians fill up for their Memorial Day Weekend getaways,” predicted Doug Shupe of the Automobile Club of Southern California.
