AQMD rules would slash smog-forming emissions
SOUTHLAND – (INT) – The South Coast AQMD has revised amendments to its residential space and water heater rules to bring them more in line with public concerns about consumer choice and economic impacts.

The updated approach provides the option for homeowners to select either natural gas or zero-emission space and water heaters while still achieving significant air quality benefits.

The proposed rules apply to new residential natural gas space and water heaters. The goal is to reduce smog forming emissions by six tons per day—one of the most substantial reductions in the agency’s history.
