Homeless program’s future in doubt
Mayors from Riverside and twelve other of California’s largest cities are appealing to state leaders to extend funding for the Homeless Housing, Assistance, and Prevention (HHAP) program.

Since its launch, HHAP has helped California’s 13 largest cities add over 17-thousand shelter beds, serve more than 152-thousand individuals, and create 2,300 permanent housing units.

The mayors led by Riverside’s Patricia Lock Dawson warned Thursday (June 5th) that without continued funding, cities will be forced to close shelter beds, reduce outreach services, and eliminate rehousing efforts—putting thousands at risk of returning to homelessness. (INT)
