SB County leads state in ‘ghost’ gun rates
INLAND EMPIRE – (INT) – San Bernardino County can lay claim to the state’s highest rate of possession and use of ‘ghost’ guns.

In the most recent statistics from 2023, law enforcement seized 1,563 ghost guns, or 7.16 per 10,000 residents—the highest rate in the state.

The California Department of Justice reported Los Angeles County seized a higher total (1,914), but the per capita rate was far lower at 1.93 per 10,000.

Three San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputies have been shot with ghost guns in the last three years, including Sergeant Dominic Vaca, who was killed in the line of duty in May 2021.
