Lawsuit aims to reverse federalizing the California National Guard ![]() OAKLAND – (INT) – Governor Newsom and Attorney General Rob Bonta made good on their threats Monday (June 9th) to sue President Trump and Defense Secretary Hegseth over federalizing the California National Guard because of civil unrest sparked by immigration raids.
According to a statement from Newsom’s office Monday (June 9th) “There is no invasion. There is no rebellion. The President is trying to manufacture chaos and crisis on the ground for his own political ends. Federalizing the California National Guard is an abuse of the President’s authority,” the statement read. “President Trump’s unprecedented order attempts to usurp state authority and resources”, the lawsuit claims. The lawsuit asks the Department of Defense to “rescind its unlawful deployment of troops in the state.” Story Date: June 10, 2025
