Toasty Father’s Day weekend ahead
INLAND EMPIRE - (INT) - Extreme Heat Watches and Warnings still cover much of the Inland Empire’s desert territory but have failed to reach the Metro area.

With a lid of high pressure clamped over the western US, quite warm temperatures are almost a certainty across Southern California.

The National Weather Service figures temperatures in the inland valleys, mtns and deserts will continue 3 to 11 degrees above seasonal averages. There is a 70-90 percent chance of exceeding 105 degrees in the lower deserts and about a 40 percent chance of exceeding 95 degrees in the Metro Inland Empire. So far, the Metro area has escaped the intense heat because of the pervasive night and morning June Gloom.

Looking toward the Father’s Day weekend, high temperatures on Sunday will range from the lower 70s near the coast to the 90s for the Metro Inland Empire with 108 to 112 for the lower deserts. Monday should be a few degrees cooler.
