Flood protection expanded in Palm Springs ![]() PALM SPRINGS - Flood control infrastructure, which protected a Palm Springs art district, a mobile home park and nearby condos from flooding during Hurricane Hilary, will soon bring flood insurance savings to these same businesses and homeowners.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has approved a map revision that removes 514 structures and approximately 102 acres from an area previously designated as having a high risk of flooding. It’s the result of a storm drain project by the Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District. The $16 million project included over one mile of a larger underground storm drain and a flood control basin. Story Date: July 8, 2025
