SOUTHLAND – (INT) – Southern Californians will be on the go over the Independence Day holiday period. The Automobile Club of Southern California (ACSC) predicts 5-and-a-half million will travel at least 50 miles from home.

The projection is a record, in part, because the holiday includes two weekends between June 28th and July 6th. The ACSC says the stats better reflect the flow of holiday travelers.

Because the holiday falls on a Friday this year, many travelers are planning extended weekends.
