Project will shape Riverside’s innovation future ![]() RIVERSIDE – (INT) – UC Riverside has broken ground for the SoCal OASIS™ Park.
It will occupy the 8-acre site of the former UC Extension Center on University Avenue. University officials say the Park will combine applied research, workforce development, and entrepreneurial infrastructure to address the Inland Empire’s most pressing sustainability challenges. Under Phase 1: • Three specialized laboratories: o Sustainable Immersive Mobility Laboratory (SIML) o Sustainable Integrated Grid Laboratory (SIGL) o Atmospheric Simulation and Measurement Laboratory (ASML) • Public space and classrooms, supporting both academic and community use • EV charging stations, bike paths, and sustainability-focused site design • UCR’s Dr. Rosibel Ochoa says OASIS represents the convergence point for the region’s emerging green technology and battery ecosystems—where innovation, industry, and community meet.” “This groundbreaking marks the beginning of a project that will shape Riverside’s innovation future,” said Mayor Patricia Lock Dawson.
