SOUTHLAND – (INT) – Southern California Edison (SCE) electric rates are going up, but not as much as it wanted.

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) approved an increase of 9.1% for the average residential customer using 500 KWH a month. That will generate 4.39 billion dollars less than SCE had requested spread over the next three years.

The CPUC said its decision balances affordability with investments in safety and reliability.
