Beware of property tax scammers
SAN BERNARDINO – (INT) – A property tax payment scam has surfaced in San Bernardino County.

With the annual property tax bills hitting mail boxes in the coming weeks, taxpayers are being warned to watch out for scams targeting property tax payments.

San Bernardino County Auditor-Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector (ACT) Ensen Mason says “scammers may try to take advantage of this mailing period by sending fake bills or making fraudulent phone calls requesting payment.”

Mason says “Our office never initiates unsolicited phone calls or emails requesting payment for secured property taxes. If you receive such a call or message, it is a scam.”

The most secure way to pay property taxes is online through ATC’s official website. Other safe options include: by mail or in person.
