Is the rainy season getting a jump start on the Southland?
SOUTHLAND – (INT) - Flash Flood Watches are being expanded as an early winter storm enters the Southland.
KEY POINTS • Tuesday: Widespread light to moderate rain for the coastal basin and mountains. There is a Flash Flood Watch for the San Bernardino and Santa Ana Mountains in areas of previous burn scars. • Strong wind gusts for deserts and desert slopes of the mountains through Tuesday. A Pacific weather system sliding down the coast is bearing chances for showers, hi-elevation snow and decidedly cooler temperatures. Tuesday will likely be the coolest with temperatures 10-20 degrees below normal in all areas except the immediate coast. The storm moved into the Bay Area Monday with a month's worth of rain in 24 hours. The National Weather Service is calling for rainfall amounts of 1-2 inches along the coastal slopes of the San Bernardino Mountains by the end of Tuesday. By the close of the week, a fair weather high pressure ridge should be in place along with continued seasonably cool temperatures. Story Date: October 13, 2025
