Off-duty sheriff’s deputy questioned about mountain shooting
CORONA – (INT) – A Perris man who appeared to be under the influence has been shot and killed when he was confronted by an off-duty Orange County sheriff’s deputy.

The incident occurred Friday evening (October 10th) on Holy Jim Trail and Main Divide Road, below Santiago Peak in the Santa Ana Mountains.

According to investigating Riverside County authorities, Agustin Vazquez Calvillo, 50, pulled a gun on the deputy who had identified himself. Calvillo was shot dead, but the deputy was unhurt.

The identity of the deputy and additional details were not released.
