Deputy’s alleged killer facing multiple consequences
RANCHO CUCAMONGA – (INT) – A 10-count criminal complaint was filed Monday (November 3rd) that could send a San Bernardino man to ‘death row’.

Prosecutors did not immediately seek the death penalty against Angelo Jose Saldivar as he has yet to stand trial for the gunshot slaying of sheriff’s deputy Andrew Nunez. But, conviction is likely to result in a no-parole prison term.

The charges stem from an alleged domestic violence incident involving Saldivar‘s ex-spouse that was witnessed by several people. Deputy Nunez had responded to the initial incident call and was shot and killed after arriving at a residence in Rancho Cucamonga October 27th.

A high-speed motorcycle pursuit followed until Saldivar was stopped by a legal intervention.

Deputy Nunez leaves a 2-year-old daughter and was expecting another child with his wife. He was a 6-year veteran of the department.

Governor Newsom ordered flags at the state capitol flown at half-staff saying Deputy Nunez “compassion and dedication to protecting others reflect the finest traditions of law enforcement”.
